2021 is here to deliver your repackaged sexism in the forms of TikTok trends,
‘Affirmative action’ and cancel culture.

Is 2021 the year that unravels every thread of foundation feminism stands upon? Wildly reversing ‘achieving’ equality or progression of feminist enlightenment, is the digital age bearing all the burden? After years of slut walks, sacrifices and # ( #metoo) we have yet to yank out the roots of patriarchy that is deeply embedded in our daily culture, and institutions. The world allocates a month for celebrating
PRIDE, BREAST CANCER AWARENESS and sexual assault awareness (SAAM). Throwing in a week for women and a day for mothers, 99 days in a year should cover us, correct?
Women are not covered when jogging alone, economically in the workplace or through legislative oversight. The 99 days are vital for redirecting attention and action towards effortful support. Online life is always presented as a façade and this distant unreal land.
This virtual realm allows us to support systems like PRIDE and SAAM to evolve into more than just a monthly movement. It allows us permanently access communities of freedom, expression and safety. Building a safe online community is ONLY ONE MORE place out of the handful, that women feel heard and unequivocally respected. Technology weeding its way into daily behavior and declarations, it is so easy to forget that presence still exists behind the digital curtain.
Online platforms are breeding a beyond reasonable level of criticism when it comes to feminism and politics. Are you making a lasting difference with this repost? Are you participating enough? Prove your support for this # or you are cancelled. ‘Talking the talk’ as a woman is so commonly dissected and torn apart online. Anything you say or do will be held against you – either you post too much and do not act enough, or your lack of posting is disrespectful.
“ All over the world , girls are raised to make themselves likable, to twist themselves into shapes that suit other people”
-(Chiminanda Ngozi Adichi)
Finding the balance of being the PERFECT FEMINST is impossible because the perfect feminist does not exist. Contribute to woman empowerment, whether it be virtually or physically. The TikTok talkers and Instagram addicts are not undoing feminism ties to its goals but are building a different pathway to get there. Using the digital ladder , feminism is climbing up to an impactful participatory state that engages with community more than ever before.
Thanks to the globalization of online culture widespread connections, similarities and revolutions are being are being watered with strong intention and drive. Through a newfound collective online consciousness feminism upgraded from historic restrictions and now represents trans woman, queer woman, and woman of color on a global scale.
The next step for those 266 days where woman do not have the worlds undivided attention, is to “Take acknowledging to accountability” ( TED talk ).
Walk the walk by being braver than you were yesterday. Decline to be included in the workplace until more women are. Do not participate in things that are not inclusive of all kinds of difference. Stop supporting television that treats sexual violence against woman like a sport ( Game of Thrones). Stop supporting professional sport where athletes are openly treating their partners like punching bags. Bit by bit these small acts of bravery contribute to empowering the divine feminine that has been abandoned within us all.
And if these asks are out of your capabilities right now, post, declare, express move freely through the world as you choose, that is more than enough!
