It is known that earth is a sentient provider of life. Whether it be medicines, food , flow or growth. Life on earth exudes grandeur energy through every fiber, of every microcosm, that makes up the planet. Outside of preservation there are many industries of plants that need to be respected and emphasized in order to restore and rejuvenate our connections to life on earth. Here, we delve into the biosphere of Herbariums, Alternative plant healing and some lush nature magnified. To explore more on Herbariums, click the link.

"The ingenuity with which we continue to reshape the surface of our planet is very striking, it's also very sobering and reminds me just how easy it is for us to lose our connection with the natural world"

- David Attenborough

Acknowledging the power and healing properties plants hold can only be done once the unbreakable bond between beings and nature is recognized. In order to respect nature we must be able to first understand nature, be vulnerable with nature and further trust nature.

To trust the healing nature of plants is to trust a universal force of life that bears medicinal properties purely for our growth and aid. Time and time again the exponential healing nature that plant life offers has been shoved under the rug as an 'unscientific', 'hippie' or 'witchy'. This misconception has resulted in original, ancient methods of healing now being viewed as an alternative option, when they used to be the core of rejuvenation and growth.  Below  is an interview of a traditional healer who emphasizes the magnificent power of Psilocybin and further how plants are healing agents for us.

As it has been emphasized through many different industries, healing roots originate from traditional knowledge. Africa holds a collective of the most, rich and healing pieces of land in nature and on this planet. Africa's strengths and ancient properties are  hardly recognized amongst globalized media, due to the connotations the western world has historically and still presently enforced on the worldwide perspective of Africa. Belonging to the African continent already holds an immense weight of misrepresentation, misunderstanding and objectification. In order to communicate and present ourselves clearly in this domineering western world, we must first start at home. A solid foundation of ubuntu needs to be applied as the standard African attitude and representation.

xenophobia in south Africa

          TRIGGER WARNING:

       XENOPHOBIA DESCRIBED                     THROUGHOUT

The core inspiration of my Capstone project roots from this video. Understanding Xenophobia in South Africa from neighboring countries perspectives. Xenophobia is trended to only be covered in media when violence breaks out, however I wanted to show that Xenophobia does exist outside of this media coverage. The violence is the extremity of South African's attitude, but the daily comments, action and objectification is equally as damaging. Here 3 African students are interviewed and share their views on the South African complex and what needs to be done to aid South African Xenophobia.

Belonging to a community

Directly linking to the core of my expanded topic of Xenophobia, belonging to a community is explained from a South African perspective. Norkie is a somewhat monumental human a part of the Grahamstown community. He takes us through a mental tour of the town just under a century ago.
